Six Reasons why strife and bitterness should be avoided

Strife is defined as ‘the act or state of fighting or quarrelling, especially bitterly… discord” it is bickering, arguing, being involved in a heated disagreement, and it shows up as anger rises.

2 Timothy 2:24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

Ephesians 4:31  Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

James 2:13 For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy; yet mercy triumphs over judgment. (At the Judgment Day, no mercy will be shown to the person who did not show mercy to others. Mercy triumphs over judgment.)

John 8:7.  So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

  • Strife comes to steal from us and we must exercise disciple on how to handle it as fast as possible. We must control strife before it controls us
  • Strife is dangerous. Satan sends strife as a demonic force in order to bring us destruction. Satan uses strife to break relationships, families, fellowships, friends, marriages, company partnerships, etc
  • Ephesians 4:26  Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: When people hurt  or offend us, we become angry. It is not sin to feel anger, but we must not act out of anger in an ungodly way and therefore sin against God. We must not hold a grudge or become bitter, resentful, or un-forgiving.
  • A judgmental attitude is an open door for strife. The bible says that mercy triumphs over judgment. Being judgmental makes one to start spreading gossips from person to person causing disagreements and strife. Without harmony and unity, God’s blessings cannot be experienced. Before we judge others we should stop and think about ourselves, bearing in mind that we are also weak in some areas and are not also beyond reproach. Let the one among us who is without sin cast the first stone. God changes things through prayer and faith, not through judgment and gossip
  • Work hard to ensure that Satan does not break any of the relationship you might be having. Always be open and willing to sit down and talk with the other party. Strive to always live in harmony with everybody around you. Psalms 133 says that God will command a blessing on a house that lives in unity. The devils knows this scripture and that is why he works extremely hard to make sure people are divided. He works hard to bring strife between us to separate us because he knows that our strength and our blessings are in our unity
  • We MUST FORGIVE others, so that we can be forgiven by God. If we don’t forgive, then we should not expect to be forgiven. Forgiveness is letting go even if you think whoever hurt you did it intentionally. Un-forgiveness will make you not get any deliverance. Demons work on legalities and un-forgiveness is a legal hold that they have to stay in you. Remember that there are diseases caused by bitterness and un-forgiveness. The devil knows the joy and the benefits of forgiving and he works hard to make sure we do not forgive others. It is up to us to ENSURE THAT WE FORGIVE no matter what.

Are you in a strife with someone? Are you bitter about someone or something? Forgive and run to Jesus now, you need help and deliverance.
